Yes, another Catherine!

I just received my hairpiece in February. I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata at about the age of 14. My family and I didn’t know what to do. We went to doctor after doctor after doctor, and that’s when I was told to go see a Children’s Mercy dermatologist. I had treatments every 3-6 months. When I was in school I just had small patches of hair. But when I was in my senior year of high school I stressed out a lot about my classes so I could graduate. The day I graduated I had a full head of hair, past my shoulders. But shortly after I graduated I was losing my hair more and more. During my times of hair loss, I was afraid of being stared at. I had hard times covering it up so that people wouldn’t notice. With the support of my family, it was time that we talked to my doctor about my hair. My doctor decided to try a new treatment. She also asked me if I wanted to get a wig and I said I would love that. That’s when she told me about “Locks of Love”. After going through the process of getting a hairpiece I can finally say that I can wear this realistic hairpiece, I can go out and enjoy the things that I loved to do before I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. I feel more confident, I feel me again. Thank you to the “Locks of Love” organization for helping me get this wonderful hairpiece!
Much love,
Catherine
